A Powell County Woman Shot To Death Her Husband Is Charged

A Powell County woman identified as Rosena Hood, 42, is dead and her husband James Hood, 48, is in jail on a second-degree manslaughter charge.

Police say he shot his wife early Sunday morning at their Echo Hollow Road. She was taken to St. Joe’s Hospital in Morehead where she was pronounced dead.

Family members told reporters there is much more to the story than appears.

“I’m not really sure what all is going on,” said April Stidham, the suspect’s niece. “I know my uncle. He’s a really good man and I know he never would have done anything like this by no means. He really loved her.”

The case remains under investigation.
