Man That Led Police To Human Remains Arrested

Kentucky State Police have arrested the man that led them to the skeletal remains found last Friday near Mount Vernon. Troopers report that Bruce Smith removed a bone from the scene.

“Any piece of evidence that we can get from the scene could lead to an identity or lead to a cause of what happens. It’s very vital we get all the evidence,” said Kentucky State Police Trooper Lloyd Cochran. The arrest citation states Smith didn’t think the bone was human He is charged with tampering with physical evidence.

According to Trooper Cochran all remains recovered are now with the state medical examiner in Frankfort

Smith discovered the remains while hunting mushrooms and is not a suspect.
