Resident Helps Winchester Police Nab Thief

– Story by WTVQ TV 36 –

Police say they were called to the 500 block of East Loudon around 2:30 a.m. Thursday after neighbors say they saw a man break into a vacant home.

Once authorities arrived they say they spotted and arrested a man matching the description the 911 caller gave them. Police say Isaiah Warren was stealing metal from the home and ended up cutting a gas line.

Authorities say they smelled a gas odor at the scene and called in fire crews and Kentucky Utilities as a precaution.

Shelby Sears lives across the street from the home and says she called 911.

“We were sitting on the porch talking and we heard glass shatter!,” explained Sears.

“We weren’t sure what it was. We looked over there and we kind of just paid attention more to it.  We saw someone in the yard , more so on the back porch. We saw him carrying stuff away from there so we called you guys to try to figure out what was going on.”

Crews were able to turn off the utilities to the home and told ABC 36 that the area was in the clear.

Warren is lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center  and charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
