EKU NURSING STUDENTS TO HOST HEALTH FAIR

Eastern Kentucky University nursing students will host a health education fair in collaboration with several local organizations.

            The event will be held Friday, July 17, 4-8 p.m., at Tates Creek Baptist Church, located at 1255 Boonesborough Road just off Exit 95. The Madison County Health Department, Lions Club and Kiwanis International are also collaborators to host the fair, along with students from EKU’s baccalaureate nursing program.

            The free event will provide services such as vision and kidney screenings and education on a variety of topics, including diabetes prevention, fall prevention, bicycle safety, car seat and seatbelt safety, pedestrian safety, nutrition, physical activity, poison control, emergency preparation and assistance with smoking cessation.

            Additional programs will include the Hispanic Outreach Program of Madison County Schools and Grandparents as Parents.

            A free dinner including a hot dog, chips and bottled water will be provided.
