Richmond Hires A City Manager
Richmond has a new city manager.
Last night Richmond City Commissioners approved hiring James Hogg, Finance Director, for the city of Somerset for the past 21 years. Hogg will take the position August 10,2015, at a salary of $85,000 with a $5,000 increase after the first year of employment. Hogg was recommended to the commission by a five member search committee.
During an interview following last night’s City Commission meeting Hogg was asked what attracted him to Richmond. “Well I looked at Richmond’s forward thinking, and the way the town’s growing, and things the city’s doing and I really like the atmosphere, the leadership style the city has,” Hogg said. “I think it’s a growing city and it’s a good place to work and to help grow.”
Hogg was selected from a field of 96 applicants.
“Well I think his experience in government, understanding how city government works, he was a budget director so the budget is a big, big component on of how government works. His demeanor, his personality, he’s just a good person,” said Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes. “We put a lot of faith in our committee and that’s the man they chose and I concur totally.”
