Food Stamps Ruling Reinstated In 8 Kentucky Counties

A rule has been reinstated for citizens receiving food stamps in eight Kentucky counties. As part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Program, recipients must spend 20 hours per week performing community service, working a job, or attending school. The Lexington Herald Leader says that the rule was waived in March of 2009 due to the recession.  It was reinstated on New Year’s Day after the federal government decided against an extension. This will only apply to Bullitt, Daviess,  Fayette, Hardin, Henderson, Jefferson, McCracken, and Warren counties.
