Richmond Officer Slightly Injured During Arrest

A Richmond police officer was slightly injured while making an arrest Friday.

Police were called to Big Hill Avenue to investigate suspicious activity when they found Travis Jones, 28, of South Porter Drive standing in front of a storage unit. As police circled the lot they observed Jones enter one of the units. Officers believe that Jones had been living in the storage unit.

During their investigation police found Jones had an active warrant for failure to appear on several traffic violations. According to the citation when officers attempted to detain Jones he tried to break away. During the scuffle one officer sustained minor injuries to his hands and knees

Jones is charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and second-degree fleeing or evading police.
