One Of Four Sentenced To 20 Years In The Killing Of A Richmond Man

Kirk Garrett one of four defendants in the shooting death of Richmond residents Roy Combs and the wounding of Billy Combs was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder Thursday afternoon in Clark County.

The shooting took place December 13, 2015 at a rock quarry in Cl;ark County.

Garrett admitted in court to shooting Roy Combs point-blank in the face with a handgun During Thursday’s court proceedings.

Garrett was sentenced to 20 years for murder and five years for second-degree assault. The sentences will run concurrently Garrett will have to serve at least 85 percent of the 20 years before being eligible for parole.

The shooting occurred because of a domestic issue involving Garrett’s daughter and stolen money.

Don Attaway, Kristi Mattingly and Christopher Coleman, are all awaiting trial.
