State Rep Wesley Morgan Cited For Illegal Transport Of Alcohol

A tip to police has resulted in State Representative Wesley Morgan, also the owner of several liquor stores, being cited for illegal transport of delivery of alcohol.

According to the report officers received a tip about a person loading a large amount of liquor into a vehicle. During a traffic stop Barbourville police allegedly found assorted alcohol hidden in his truck bed.

Morgan was elected to office in November and during his first term as representative, his ethics came into question when he introduced six bills that would benefit his business. One of those bills would make it easier for liquor dealers to transport their inventory between stores.

During an interview in January, Morgan told reporters he was not proposing the bills for personal gain, but to help small business owners

Many of the bills introduced by Morgan went out of committee in February.

Morgan is due in court later this month.
