2 Arrested For Richmond Burglary

A man and a woman were charged in connection to a July 7 burglary on Linden Street, says Richmond Police.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., police report 25-year-old Jacquan C. Shorter had forced an apartment door open, grabbing keys to a vehicle and attempted to drive it away. Officers say Shorter crashed into a light pole in the parking lot, and returned to the apartment to damage property inside.
Chad E. McAlister was waiting in a vehicle, and police say Shorter fled the apartment’s residents by jumping into his car.
Officers say they located the vehicle a short time later on the Eastern Bypass near Commercial Drive, detaining Shorter and letting EMS transport her to Baptist Health in Richmond after complaints of injuries.
According to authorities, Shorter had been drunk and confrontational at the hospital, and refused medical treatment. Police say Shorter was lodged in a Detention Center, and charged with 1st degree Burglary, 1st degree Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unlawful Taking, D.U. I. and leaving the scene of an accident.
