Train derails in Winchester

A CSX train, consisting of two locomotives and nine cars, derailed around 7:00 p.m. on Friday on the main rail line near the CSX yard, according to CSX officials. The train’s crew determined one of the car’s wheels came off the tracks while the train was in motion. The train was stopped and crews were immediately called to the scene. The car remained upright during the incident, according to CSX officials.

Crews began working to re-rail the involved car. No injuries were reported, but multiple intersections were closed in downtown Winchester, which led to a traffic impact, according to officials.
