Fog And Smoke Blamed In Deadly Pileup

Fog and smoke from wildfires are being blamed for a deadly pileup on the Mountain Parkway.

Authorities say 11 passenger vehicles and 3 commercial vehicles were involved in the crash. It happened shortly after 9 a.m. near Red River Gorge at milemarker 34 between the Campton and Slade exits

Authorities are reporting one person was killed and multiple people were hospitalized.

Emergency units from Powell, Owsley, Lee, Montgomery, Clark and Estill Counties all responded.
