Berea Man Arrested After Children Found Living In Filth

Friday, Berea Police arrested Michael W. Ferguson, 35, after investigating a complaint made by Child Protective Services employees.

According to the arrest citation when police arrived at the Hillcrest Drive home, the interior had a strong stench of urine with animal food and feces scattered about. Walking through the house was difficult because of clothing and moldy trash piled throughout. Dirty dishes were piled in the sink and on the stove, along with garbage.

The children had no beds and an autistic child slept on a deflated air matress.

The citation also added the bathroom was “disgusting”.

Ferguson was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

He was also served with a warrant from Rowan County charging him with trafficking in synthetic drugs. The warrant alleges that Ferguson sold one gram of “bath salts” for $160 to a Rowan County Sheriff informant.
