Richmond Police Arrest Woman Returning Stolen Merchandise
Richmond Police have arrested Jammie-Jemima Burns, 38, of Jackson, after she went to Kohls to return a ring she had shoplifted in November.
According to the arrest citation on November 28, Burns was recorded by the store’s surveillance equipment shoplifting two rings valued together at $1,850. The video was given to Richmond police, but the suspect’s identity remained unknown.
One December 27, Burns went back to Kohls to return the stolen merchandise, when she was recognized by store employees.
When a police officer confronted Burns with photographs of the two rings, including one picture that matched a ring that she was wearing, she admitted to the theft.
Burns returned the ring in her possession to the store and agreed to return the other ring that was at her home.
She was booked into the Madison County Detention Center and charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting more than $500).
