Three men plead not guilty in an alleged hazing incident involving the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at EKU. Thomas Barnes, Gabriel McLaren and Alonzo McGuill all of Richmond are charged with fourth degree assault. Police say they struck Brent Whiteside with a paddle, cane and fist which resulted in him being hospitalized as part of a hazing. EKU suspended the chapter for 8 years late last month.

The Richmond City Commission will hear the second and final reading tonight of a proposed noise ordinance that would ban all types of outdoor music after 10 p.m. each night. This includes business and residents. There will not be a public hearing on this issue, however if citizens show up at tonight's meeting there is a possibility they can voice their opinions. The meeting is at 6 p.m. tonight at City Hall.

EKU Athletics Department has suspended a football player charged with robbing the Richmond Wal-Mart and pushing a 69 year old woman into a shopping cart, which caused her to loose part of her thumb. Devin Walker is suspended indefinitely from Eastern's football program. He plead not guilty to the charges on Monday.

Each Thursday night in July, downtown Richmond will be offering a walking stroll with a history lesson. There will be several characters from Richmond's past who will interact with participants in the downtown tour.

An Estill County home was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. The fire broke out on Wagersville Road, south of Irvine. Firefighters say the home was destroyed. They think it started in the basement but aren't sure what caused it. The family was on vacation.

A judge says a man accused of killing a small town police chief can be considered for a death penalty trial. Powell circuit judge Frank Fletcher okayed prosecutors to try Jamie Barnett for the death penalty. Barnett is accused of killing Clay City police chief Randy Lacy last year during an arrest. Jury selection begins on Tuesday in Montgomery county.

Richmond police are warning residents of a scam involving a check. Police say the scam comes in the form of a UPS air package contacting a check from London. Individuals are asked to cash the check and mail a processing fee overseas. Sergeant Willard Reardon says to ignore the mailing and contact police. A local resident has already lost 2,100 dollars to the scam.

An Eastern Kentucky University football player was in court Monday morning on robbery charges. Police say 22 year old Davin Walker robbed the Wal-Mart store in Richmond last Thursday. As he was leaving he pushed a 69 year old woman into a shopping cart, which caused her to loose part of her thumb. Walker had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf.

It was a surprise in Madison Circuit court his week when 31 year old Herbert Hager admitted his guilt on multiple sexual misconduct charges involving children. Hager asked the judge to wave his right to a trial by jury, his right to bring witness forth on his behalf and his right to appeal. Judge Julia Adams sentenced Hager to 6 years in prison on 10 counts of attempting to commit an unlawful transaction with a minor, as well as 12 months on additional charges of stalking in the second degree.
